A group of movie makers established in Darlington for over 50 years has now moved its headquarters to Aycliffe Village. The members of Darlington Video Makers Club all have at least one thing in common – they love making movies.

Ivor Rose the Chairman said. “We cover a large area and welcome new members who are happy to travel to our regular meetings. We are very pleased with our new premises at the Great Aycliffe Village Hall where we meet every Tuesday at 7.00pm. We now have much more room to operate, excellent facilities and all at a reasonable rent.” Members make videos as individuals but quite often get together to make something more ambitious. Categories covered are too numerous to mention, but as an example, range from comedies and stories (some with actors) to documentaries, history, family holidays and local events.

For those who wish to, there are competitions to enter within the club, regional and National. “If you think that the world of amateur film making may be of interest to you,” said Arthur Best the club visitor contact. “If you wish to find out more about us please give me a ring on 0191 548 2721 or visit our website darlingtoncc.weebly.com.” Arthur then added “I enjoy being a member so much I travel every week from my home in Sunderland.” Noel Bennett one of our newest members said. “I joined, just a few months ago, as a complete beginner. I found everyone to be very friendly and helpful and I have since made and edited three short films.”

You may be a new starter with a smart phone, very experienced with top of the range equipment or somewhere in between, all are welcome. The club holds training sessions about video techniques and also how to edit your films. Darlington Video Makers is a group whose mission is to help, support and encourage each other in all aspects of making videos, in a friendly environment. So anyone interested is welcome to make contact. Ask about our ‘FREE TASTER SESSIONS’ on our club nights. Movie Makers on the Move! | Newton News
